| RideBuzz is
in the process of forming a non-profit organization, based in Western Massachusetts,
which is dedicated to creating a secure ridesharing system in the Pioneer
Valley and beyond using new technology.
Ridebuzz
is seeding change with a strong belief that we can attain a sustainable
energy future. We believe that future is not far off, but it
depends on our concerted willingness to engage in solving problems - imbued
with the philosophy of positive outcomes and strength to actuate realistic
solutions in the here and now. The Ridebuzz organization embodies
a positive approach to solving problems through clarity and efficiency
of activity. Through this active awareness we are improving upon
societal structures with the goal of long-term survival, peace and prosperity
in mind.
Because
Global Warming is everyone's problem: Our long-term vision starts
today by harnessing existing social and technological structures to form
synergistic solutions. One such solution is the use of Intelligent
Carpooling.
| "Carpooling
(also known as ride-sharing, lift-sharing), is shared use of a car, in
particular for commuting to work, often by people who each have a car but
travel together to save costs and in the interest of other socio-environmental
benefits.."

Carpooling
= Group efficiency: By simply consolidating
passengers into fewer vehicles, we can save on fuel costs and drastically
reduce carbon dioxide emissions without waiting for serious changes or
investments to our transportation infrastructure. Four people sharing
a trip in one car can consume nearly 3/4 less fuel than 4 people driving
around in 4 separate cars. Have you noticed all of those empty seats
driving around?
Our
goal is to mainstream Carpooling through appropriate technology and
social advocacy. Carpooling can readily transform our current transportation
infrastructure into a more energy efficient, flexible, and notably effective
system. Currently, transportation emissions account for 28% of Greenhouse
Gas Emissions, and 20% of those emissions (2006 EPA figure) are caused
by passenger vehicles (also known as the light-duty vehicle category which
includes passenger cars, SUVs, minivans and pickup trucks). How
do we stop global warming? Here's part of the solution:
If half of everyone driving today joined a carpool, then we could
immediately cut-back nearly 50% of greenhouse gas emissions and traffic
congestion caused by passenger automotive transportation. That is
a significant reduction!!! And greater reductions are within reach!
Carpooling
is a proven method for reducing greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs) that
are the primary causes of global warming and for mitigating traffic congestion
and the escalating costs of fuel, insurance, vehicle ownership, and oil-driven
wars. When we carpool, we save tremendous amounts of energy!
Carpooling will amplify the benefits of the fuel efficient cars of tomorrow.
Intelligent
Carpooling: Ridebuzz is making carpooling more accessible by developing
an ease-of-use automated carpooling system that easily connects passengers
and drivers. Through advocacy we seek to convince the public, commerce,
and policy makers that carpooling has significant benefits. Users
of the Ridebuzz Carpool System can connect
with fellow travelers, share gas costs, and reduce global warming gas emissions.
By sharing rides, we can act together to reduce the number of cars clogging
the roadways that directly contribute to global warming. It's a way
to make a difference just by getting together before you travel.
Community Driven!
The
need for intelligent carpooling
Currently
carpooling relies on serendipitous events facilitated through cork-boards,
basic posting web sites, and word of mouth but there is a need for a more
cohesive system. People are driving similar routes all of the time,
but have no effective way of connecting with each other.
Climatic
global warming trends necessitate immediate social action to prevent impending
climate crisis. An important component to such action is addressing
how our personal transportation can be adapted to reduce our greenhouse
gas emissions. By simply consolidating passengers into fewer vehicles,
we can save on fuel costs and drastically reduce carbon dioxide emissions
without serious changes or investments to our transportation infrastructure.
The concept of carpooling plays an important role in reducing our oil dependence
by consolidating resources a concept that transcends particular automobile
technology. Any car is more efficient in the big energy picture when
carrying more passengers verses having more cars on the road. The
more efficient cars of tomorrow can be even more efficient with Ridesharing
concepts applied - Envision 4 passengers riding in one hybrid car verses
4 passengers riding in 4 separate hybrids. Almost 3/4 less fuel would
be consumed for transporting the same number of people - drastically improving
fuel efficiency of the group.
Ridesharing =
Group Efficiency
= Reduced Oil
Dependence
= Lower GHG Emissions!
Global
warming is a reality that must be acted upon considering 10 of the
last 12 years have been the hottest on record and increasing CO2 levels
imply that the rate of warming is accelerating, we must take drastic measures
to reverse this serious trend.
Roughly
20% of all emissions are caused by passenger vehicles (EPA, 2006) which
are also known as the light duty vehicles category and includes passenger
cars, SUVs, minivans and pickup trucks. Carpooling is an effective
solution for significantly reducing those emissions that cause global warming
(Combined transportation emissions from passenger vehicles, trucks, airplanes,
and rail account for 28% of all U.S. emissions). If extensive carpooling
were employed, we could reduce current greenhouse gas emissions caused
by passenger vehicles by at least 50%.
Most
wars are resource-driven, especially those were seeing in the Middle
East. Carpooling is one important piece of the puzzle to reduce consumption
and waste of resources, thereby reducing the pressure for such conflicts.
In
an age of increasing social alienation, carpooling offers a socially cooperative
solution providing flexible transportation options for non-car owners.
Carpoolers benefit from significant fuel savings and social interaction.
As energy prices soar, carpooling becomes economically incentivized.
The environmental, political and economic landscapes are opening up for
the adoption of carpooling.
A massive
rideshare network would act as a surrogate public transportation system
that is cost effective for both users and operators and potentially capable
of going where no public transportation has gone before: doorstep to
doorstep. Carpooling is the best way to address the current problem
of transportation in an era of decentralized, sprawling development until
such time as these current patterns are abandoned and become obsolete.

global warming trends seriously!!
