Sunny skies and the promise of your day stuffed with warm weather greeted over 80 folks who took part in Saturday's annual Ride for Hospice.

The event was organized by Dave Villeneuve, who was inspired to plan a bike rally this season, following his father's death.

In '09, Harvey Villeneuve Sr. died at Carefor Hospice Cornwall shortly before Christmas after suffering a major stroke. He was 70 yrs . old.

Dave Villeneuve said the turnout for Saturday's memorial ride was great, and, too, the next thunderstorm was perfect.

Michael Canfield of Augusta isn't any stranger to long bike rides. He competes in triathlons often.
But he couldn't pass the ability to ride for the good cause.
Canfield rode within the Autumn Trails Classic, which celebrated its 25th anniversary the 2009 weekend. The event was a two-day bicycling fundraiser for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Nearly 300 bicyclists been found for the event, and so they collectively raised thousands of dollars.
"I thought it would be a good idea, and I just went ahead and did it," Canfield said. "...It's fun, plus it helps others."
